🚨 SHOCKING TWIST: ONE PIECE’S “HIATUS” ISN’T A CURSE—IT’S THE GENIUS PLAN TO LAUNCH A DOUBLE ANIME ASSAULT THAT’LL BLOW YOUR MIND! 😱

With only a few more episodes to go until the Egghead Arc wraps up, One Piece‘s anime is quickly approaching its next big hiatus, much to the disappointment of fans everywhere. Admittedly, this hiatus could finally give fans what they’ve been wanting for years: better pacing and even better animation.

That said, there’s no denying that the anime’s absence will be felt by all, especially given that One Piece has been a weekly anime for well over two decades. While the Fishman Island remaster helped, it doesn’t seem like One Piece has anything of the sort lined up this time, unless the Wit Studio remake chooses to surprise fans.

One Piece’s Wit Studio Remake May Be Looking at a 2026 Debut

It’s been nearly two whole years since the Wit Studio remake titled The One Piece was first announced at Jump Festa 2024. Save for a bunch of concept art, there have been little to no updates on the project since, but fans have kept their hopes up and continued waiting nonetheless.

That said, all-new concept art for the remake was recently displayed at the official One Piece store, stoking hopes of an update at Jump Festa 2026. Further supporting this is a comment from George Wada, the CEO of Wit Studio, who hinted at the One Piece remake getting an update in 2026 at Anime Expo 2025 earlier this year.

When specifically asked about the remake during a panel, Wada specifically said, “We can’t talk about anything about The One Piece yet. Next year, we’ll see you.” If so, Wit Studio’s One Piece remake could be planning a 2026 debut, and it could perfectly coincide with the main anime’s hiatus as it shifts to a seasonal format, a brilliant move.

The Wit Studio Remake Could Fill in During One Piece’s Hiatus

What this means for fans is not only more stunningly animated, well-paced episodes by Toei adapting the Elbaph Arc, but also a high-quality, well-paced remake of the earlier arcs by Wit Studio. Essentially, fans could continue having a steady stream of One Piece content around the year and have it look amazing at the same time.

In a way, perhaps the release of the Fishman Island remaster during the last hiatus was a test of sorts to gauge how fans would react.

This could explain why it’s taken so long for any kind of update on the remake, as the series’ producers may have very well been saving it for the hiatus all along. In a way, perhaps the release of the Fishman Island remaster during the last hiatus was a test of sorts to gauge how fans would react.

Given the two years that have passed since the remake was announced, it’s not completely far-fetched to assume that the series could be well into production and ready for a potential 2026 release. All that said, for now, fans can only wait and hope for the best until Jump Festa comes around.
