Garth Brooks has been accused of đ eđ„ual misconduct by âJane Roe,â a former makeup artist and stylist for Brooks and his wife Trisha Yearwood.
In a lawsuit filed Thursday (October 3), the plaintiff alleges that Garth Brooks, 62, raped her in 2019 while they were on a work trip. The lawsuit states that the accuser started working for Trisha Yearwood in 1999, and Garth became her client in 2017.
According to CNN, Brooks filed a lawsuit in mid-September as âJohn Doe,â asking the courts to declare an accuserâs allegations untrue before she went public with them. The female accuser responded by asking the court to deny John Doeâs requests to remain anonymous, saying, that he should not receive special treatment due to his status and is an âalleged đ eđ„ual assault predator.â
âMr. Doe believes that he is entitled to the same protection victims receive â not to prevent unnecessary re-traumatization, but rather, to maintain his celebrity âreputation,ââ the accuserâs attorney said in a statement released to CNN this week.
At the time of his filing last month, Brooks (as John Doe) alleged that âJane Roeâ was attempting to extort him through âuntrue, lewd allegationsâ and âoutrageous conduct.â
âDefendantâs allegations are not true,â Doeâs lawsuit stated. âDefendant is well aware, however, of the substantial, irreparable damage such false allegations would do to Plaintiffâs well-earned reputation as a decent and caring person, along with the unavoidable damage to his family and the irreparable damage to his career and livelihood that would result if she made good on her threat to âpublicly fileâ her fabricated lawsuit.â
In the lawsuit filed by âJane Roeâ Thursday, it was revealed that âJohn Doeâ was Garth Brooks.
The accuser made shocking claims against the âMuch Too Youngâ singer that included rape, đ eđ„ual assault, and battery. Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood have yet to make a statement about the accusations.
In early July, Garth Brooks revealed that he was bringing his Facebook Live show, Inside Studio G, to an end after eight years. He shared that the show would end later this year, but didnât give a reason why. Two months later, Brooks announced the end of his Las Vegas residency. His final shows are slated for February and March 2025. It is unknown if the ending of the show and residency are connected to the recent accusations.
