New information has come to light regarding the identity of Straw Hat Franky’s father, and it’s a fan-favorite One Piece villain who may never appear in the series again. Author Eiichiro Oda packs each chapter of One Piece‘s manga with a lot of world-building and plot development, but the series is so large and rich with characters that fascinating details don’t always find room to be shared in the story. Thankfully, new merchandise sold in Japan reveals details that have sent the One Piece fanbase into a frenzy.
Vivre Cards sold in Japan share updated information on characters from One Piece. The latest release shared new details about Kaido’s flamboyant cyborg inventor, Queen, and how he had a child that he abandoned in the same year the Straw Hat’s own flamboyant cyborg inventor was abandoned. One Piece‘s latest Vivre Card about Queen heavily suggests that Franky is his son. According to the information translated by X user NewWorldArtur, the card doesn’t directly state the parentage as fact, but it does lay out a timeline of Queen’s life, and the timing coincides with Franky’s match shockingly well.
Queen Being Franky’s Father Is A Massive Twist, But It Makes Sense
Author Eiichro Oda Gave Franky and Queen No Scenes Together During The Wano
Timeline of Scien (Queen)’s life:
39 years ago: Worked in MADS
36 years ago: Had a child
33 years ago: Got an offer to join from Kaidou
29 years ago: Leaves MADS
26 years ago: MADS is bought by the Government

Queen of Kaido’s Beast Pirates was a fearsomely powerful and brutal opponent to contend with during the Wano arc’s Raid on Onigashima. In his youth, he’d made a name for himself working with Dr.Vegapunk and other One Piece villains who were brilliant scientists of questionable morals in the organization known as MADS. His most recent Vivre Card revealed that he had a child thirty-six years in the past and abandoned the son ten years later before joining Kaido, dates that perfectly match up with Franky’s birth and the time he started his life at Water 7.
Because the parentage of most of One Piece‘s best characters is often a total mystery, not usually the focus of the story Eiichiro Oda’s epic, most fans never considered the possibility that Queen and Franky were related. However, now that the information is out there, the similarities between the two characters are plentiful. Both are extremely charismatic pirates with extravagant passions for showmanship who work at the highest levels of quality within their professions, and they both dance to the beat of their own drums.
Will Queen Being Franky’s Father Be Important In One Piece
Franky’s Life Would Be A Lot Different If He Was Raised With Kaido’s Beast Pirates
A major theme of One Piece is that a person’s found family can sometimes form more healthy and impactful relationships than biological families. The entire Whole Cake Island arc was centered on abusive family relationships and the harm that they can create. Judging by Queen’s actions throughout the Wano arc, Franky was better off not being under his care. Still, it’s shocking and disappointing that the two had zero interactions during their shared time on Wano.
After Queen was defeated by Sanji, the son of his former evil scientist colleague, he and Kaido’s other confidant, King, attempted to heal from their battles but were dramatically drained of their nutrients from Admiral Green Bull’s assault on Wano. It’s currently unclear if Queen or other prominent members of Kaido’s Beast Pirates are gone for good, but at this point in One Piece‘s story, there is very little reason for Franky and his apparent father to have any sort of interaction. Still, it’s a fascinating revelation that fans will talk about for quite some time.
