One Piece: Oda Confirms Bonney As A Haki User

One Piece: Oda Confirms Bonney As A Haki User

One Piece Chapter 1119 proved to be absolutely sensational in many ways, despite its short length. Fans were eager to see what battles this chapter would cover, especially because the previous one set up a massive event in the story. For the very first time, Jewelry Bonney decided to tap into the full extent of her Devil Fruit powers, and turned herself into a version of Nika. This essentially gave Bonney access to the power of Gear 5, and fans knew that she was going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Bonney and Luffy combined their strength against the Five Elders, and together, they did incredible damage to one of these mighty powerful individuals. However, in the midst of it all, fans also got to see her receive yet another power upgrade, and this power was Haki.

Bonney’s Nika Form

Bonney Can Use Distorted Future To Become Nika

Jewelry Bonney tapped into the power of the Nika fruit in One Piece chapter 1118. While this power was first accessed by her recently, the setup for it was delivered in the story long ago. In the Egghead Island arc, fans clearly saw that Bonney could actually take on different forms using her power. These were forms from alternative futures, which she could gain access to using the Toshi Toshi no Mi. The flashback of Kuma was essentially the one where fans finally got confirmation as to what Bonney’s power was. Not only can she age things and revert aging, but she can also do much more. It was revealed in the flashback that Bonney can take on different futures.

Give me a Nika-like future!!

For instance, after Bonney’s disease was cured, and she tried setting out to the sea in an attempt to get to her father, she ended up breaking free from Alpha by using her devil fruit abilities. Using a Nika-like future, she was able to successfully manifest the powers of Gear 3 and she did so incredibly well. Delivering a powerful punch to Alfa, Bonney completely crushed her with a move that resembled Gigant Pistol. This was the very first hint for the fans that Bonney would be able to do something like this later down the line.

Saturn then confirmed that Bonney has the ability to take on any future imaginable, as long as she believes strongly in that future and its possibility. As such, Bonney only needed to believe in the existence of Nika in order to actually gain access to his powers using her Devil Fruit. After she saw Luffy turning into Gear 5 in Egghead, fans knew that she would be essentially unstoppable with the power of Gear 5 and that she would go on to manifest it at some point in the story. That is precisely what happened in One Piece chapter 1118 towards the end, and last week’s One Piece chapter 1119 gave fans a proper glimpse of what she could do using this ability.

Bonney’s Usage Of Armament Haki

Bonney Had Recently Gained Another Major Power-Up In The Form Of Haki

In One Piece chapter 1119, not only did Bonney manifest the powers of Nika, but at the same time, she also showcased another power-up, and this time, it was Haki. It is clear for the fans to see that Bonney is easily one of the strongest individuals in One Piece now and that she can dismantle the vast majority of powerful enemies using Gear 5 and Haki. Using her powers, she collaborated with Luffy and helped him blow away Mars. Essentially, Bonney, Luffy, Sanji, and Franky combined their strength to blow away Marcus Mars. This was simply down to the fact that Mars could not be defeated using conventional means. He simply kept coming back every time, and that meant changing strategy was due.

Haki is present within everyone! – Rayleigh

Luffy decided to blow him away instead of actually defeating him, and the strategy worked flawlessly. Essentially, Luffy turned himself into a giant inflatable balloon, and then, Sanji, Bonney, and Franky hit him with their strongest moves to generate and absorb enough force to send Mars flying away. That is precisely what ended up happening in the chapter, and surprisingly, when Bonney utilized her new technique, she was seen making use of Haki.

Bonney created a giant fist using the powers of Gear 5, and she coated this fist in Armament Haki. It was clearly a very powerful punch as Luffy cried out in pain after being hit by it, along with the attacks of Sanji and Franky.

Clearly, Bonney channels the powers of Armament Haki here, and this makes her an incredibly powerful individual in the world of One Piece. Bonney can essentially destroy all her enemies using this power, and, with time, she’s only going to get more ferocious. This is also the very first time that Bonney has had any type of Haki confirmed for herself. Fans had assumed that since she was so young, she could not utilize Haki, however, given that Bonney is a hardened survivor of the New World, this should have been rather obvious.

Now, fans know for a fact that Bonney can tap into the power of Haki, or perhaps, it was Gear 5 that allowed her to unlock this ability, given that the power itself works based on freedom. Now that Bonney is essentially free, she can utilize this power easily.

Does Bonney Have Any Other Haki Form?

For Now, Bonney Only Has The Color Of Arms

Right now, Bonney has showcased just her Armament Haki. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that she only has access to one Haki type. The most basic type of Haki in One Piece is Observation Haki. Usually, this Haki type is seen among more individuals. For instance, the likes of Enel and his priests did not have access to Armament Haki, but Observation Haki came easier to them. Generally speaking, there are Only a few individuals who have Armament Haki but not Observation Haki, then those who have Observation Haki but not Armament Haki. In general, users who have access to Color of Arms have access to both Observation Haki and Armament Haki. This could make her a user of two Haki types, at the very least. Of course, this isn’t enough confirmation, but fans can always assume, especially because it’s harder to showcase Color of Observation.

When it comes to Conqueror’s Haki, fans know that there is a possibility for her to have this power as well. Bonney has the blood of the creators of the world, unfortunate for her as that may be. The Five Elders having Conqueror’s Haki is proof of the fact that Celestial Dragons have access to this power as well. Bonney, having the parentage of his Celestial Dragon, could potentially have inherited this ability.

For now, however, she has not manifested Conqueror’s Haki and it might be a while before she actually does that, if she possesses it. At this point in time, she only has one type of confirmed Haki, and that is Armament Haki. She most likely possesses Observation Haki, but Conqueror’s Haki needs clearer confirmation from the author.
