One Piece’s Editor Confirms the Egghead Arc’s Biggest Shock Is Yet to Come
One Piece‘s Egghead arc has been praised for finally pushing the story forward, at least compared to past arcs, and it seems that it will only get more exciting. Oda was true to his word that Egghead would mark the beginning of the final saga, and the start of major reveals and events.
With the crew about to leave the island and heading to Elbaf, the arc is at its final stages. The arc has been very exciting and chaotic, with huge implications for the future of the series.
In a video interview with the editor of the manga, Anayama, that was shared by X user @sandman_AP, it was confirmed that One Piece’s Egghead arc will feature an even bigger event before it ends. Although there are no hints as to what this development could be, there are some good choices and theories floating around. Anayama’s statement was translated on X by One Piece content creator @newworldartur:
“It’s been stated that Egghead would conclude with a major incident. However, there is still one more big twist to it. I won’t say anything else or they’ll erase me lol”

Fans Are Waiting For the “Great Incident” Teased by One Piece
Ever since the start of this arc, One Piece teased that a “big incident” will happen in Egghead that will shake the world to its foundations. Anayama’s statement seems to imply that, before fans get to see that, another impressive and unexpected twist will take place, which is just as exciting as it sounds.
A big part of why the Egghead arc was so good was the developments outside the island, so it is very possible that the upcoming event could happen around the world. This is made even more possible given how Vegapunk’s message was played across the world, and the consequences of it could very well very felt already. From Akainu finally taking action or Imu appearing, the possibilities are many, but they are all cataclysmic.
New events might even unfold in Egghead, and major character deaths are very possible, particularly of one of the Five Elders. This would indeed be a big event as stated by Anayama. Furthermore, the fact that the Iron Giant was shown to be able to damage Warcury and make him bleed despite his incredible fortitude possibly means that an Elder will die before the end of the arc. Another major death could be Kizaru, a character whose loyalty to the Navy is under scrutiny and may very well become Luffy’s ally and aid his escape.
Many major events have happened so far in the arc, and as such, there are a limited number of possibilities that could one-up these exciting developments. Only Oda and his editor know what is in store for fans of One Piece, but fans should strap in as the series concludes the arc with a bang.
