Conor McGregor’s wildest moments from pushing referee and attacking bus to causing brawls and paying fines

Conor McGregor is the biggest star in mixed martial arts history.

All six of the highest-grossing UFC pay-per-view events of all time are fights he was involved in while he is the most followed combat sports athlete on the planet with a combined 75 million followers across all major social media platforms.

There is no doubting that his supreme talent in the octagon has amassed him plenty of fans.

After all, he is the first two-weight simultaneous UFC champion and ranks among the best MMA fighters to ever lace up the gloves.

However, it is his antics outside of the cage that has led to him becoming one of the most recognisable faces in the world.

International Fight Week was supposed to be about him, but injury means his comeback, against Michael Chandler, will not happen at UFC 303.

Las Vegas traffic may have been at a standstill if the Irishman was in Sin City. He still might show up and take over and here, talkSPORT.com looks back at some of McGregor’s wildest outbursts and craziest moments.

Throwing Monster cans at Nate Diaz and his team

Before McGregor and Nate Diaz’s rematch at UFC 202 in 2016, the pair met at a launch press conference in Las Vegas, which quickly turned chaotic.

McGregor turned up late, prompting Diaz to storm off the stage before returning with ammunition.

When ‘Notorious’ arrived, Diaz launched a bottle of water at McGregor and the former pound-for-pound king returned fire by launching cans of Monster Energy at the Stockton native and his team.

McGregor was fined $150,000 (£118,000) for his part in the altercation and was ordered to carry out 50 hours of community service.

Vaulting Bellator cage, shoving referee and slapping commissioner

It’s safe to say McGregor was a little too amped up for his team-mate Charlie Ward’s victory at Bellator 187 in Dublin.

After Ward knocked out John Redmond in the opening stanza, McGregor vaulted the cage to celebrate with his SBG training partner.

As he bundled Ward to the ground referee Marc Goddard stepped in to break up the pair, evoking an angry response from McGregor, who pushed the official.

McGregor was then escorted out of the cage, but it didn’t simmer down there.

When a commissioner inside the Octagon tried to stop him from entering again, McGregor slapped him in the face.Arrest for Robbery after smashing fans phone6McGregor was arrested for a public altercation with a fanCredit: AFP or licensors

A few months removed his crushing defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov, McGregor was arrested for strong-armed robbery and criminal mischief in Miami, Florida.

According to the police report, the fan was taking pictures of McGregor before he knocked the phone out of his hand, stamped on it, and walked off with the device.

McGregor settled a civil lawsuit with the victim out of court.

Punching an old man in a bar

Not long after his civil lawsuit was settled, McGregor wound up in another public altercation when he punched an old man in a pub in Dublin.

The attack took place after the elderly man refused a shot of McGregor’s Proper Twelve whiskey.

McGregor uncorked a left hook to the side of the man’s head, who remarkably remained conscious after eating the thunderous blow.

He was later convicted of assault and fined 1000 euros (£842).

The mass brawl between Team McGregor and Khabib’s entourage is undoubtedly one of the craziest moments in UFC history.

Things took a turn for the worse when Khabib scaled to the Octagon and threw a flying kick in Dillon Danis’ direction.

This sparked a massive fight between the opposing teams that saw a member of Khabib’s team vault the cage and exchange blows with McGregor amidst the chaos.

Khabib was handed a nine-month suspension and was fined $500,000 (£393,375) for starting the altercation while McGregor got a six-month suspension and a $50,000 (£39,327) fine for his part in the ugly scenes.

In the build-up to Khabib’s UFC lightweight title fight against Al Iaquinta at UFC 223, the Russian legend and his team cornered Artem Lobov – a former friend of McGregor’s in a heated confrontation at a hotel.

A few days later, McGregor went looking for revenge with his posse.

Mcgregor, accompanied by approximately 20 men, ran up to a bus -which was transporting a group of fighters back to their hotel following a promotional event at the Barclays Centre – and threw a steel dummy at its windows.

The projectile shattered the glass and inflicted injuries on Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg who had to be pulled from the card as a result.

McGregor was arrested and later pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct.

He was ordered to perform five days of community service and undergo an anger management course as part of his plea.
