Salman Khan’s old tweet on Preity Zinta trended after Saint Lucia Kings beat Guyana Amazon Warriors by six wickets to win the Caribbean Premier League title

Salman Khan’s old tweet on Preity Zinta has resurfaced after Saint Lucia Kings in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024. Back in 2014, Kings XI Punjab, now Punjab Kings, finished as the runners-up of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after losing to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the final.

After qualifying for the playoffs, they lost to the Knights by 28 runs in Qualifier 1 after which they took down Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Qualifier 2. However, they could not past the finish line in the final despite Wriddhiman Saha scoring a hundred for them at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

When KXIP were taking part in the playoffs, Salman Khan had tweeted, “Zinta’s team won kya? (Did Zinta’s team win?)” The 12-year-old tweet has trended after the Kings won their maiden CPL title. Zinta is one of the owners of the Kings, along with Ness Wadia, Mohit Burman and Karan Paul.

The Kings clinched their first-ever CPL title on Monday, defeating the Guyana Amazon Warriors by 6 wickets. After winning the toss, SLK opted to bowl and quickly put the opposition on the back foot with early breakthroughs. Every bowler contributed to the effort, but Noor Ahmad stole the spotlight, taking 3 wickets for just 19 runs in his 4 overs. GAW managed to post a total of 138/8 in their 20 overs.

Chasing a modest target, SLK faced early setbacks as key players, Faf du Plessis and Johnson Charles, who had amassed over 850 runs between them in the tournament, were dismissed cheaply. At 51/4, the game seemed to tilt in GAW’s favour, but Roston Chase (39 off 22) and Jones (48 off 31) mounted a brilliant counterattack, guiding SLK to victory with 11 balls to spare and securing the coveted trophy.
