One Piece chapter 1169 spoilers have finally surfaced on the internet, with presumably a couple of days left for the official release. What’s interesting about the upcoming chapter is that it reveals information about Harald that alters our perspective on Loki.

The fandom has previously considered Loki to be a villain in the series. However, with Harald’s transformation, it looks like Oda-san wants to make him feel like a hero.

Harald’s Reveal Changes Loki’s Character Perspective in One Piece

In the recent One Piece chapter 1169 that surfaced, the once-respected King of Elbaf, King Harald, reveals some information that completely changes Loki’s justification for his actions.

Harald reveals that he was persuaded and influenced by some higher powers, which can be Imu or the World Government, possibly. Being under their control, Harald lost his sense of himself and attacked several of his own allies, betraying them, which included Jarul.

Upon his confession, Harald exclaims how he was betrayed by the so-called higher powers and regrets the whole thing. He then turns to Loki and requests that Loki kill him and tell Elbaf the whole truth. However, Harald also reveals the existence of a legendary Devil Fruit and insists that Loki should eat it; otherwise, Loki would not be able to kill Harald.

Complying with Harald’s wishes, Loki runs to the treasure room to eat the Devil Fruit, but is seen getting attacked by his weapon, Ragnir, or something else that was guarding the chest.

Previously, Loki was seen as a villain by the fandom due to his history of destruction and violence in Elbaf, and particularly for killing his father, King Harald, for a Devil Fruit.

However, the new reveal portrays that Loki killing Harald was more of acting on wishes and granting death out of mercy. This could well mean a complete change of Loki’s character portrayal moving forward.

What Does the New Reveal Mean for the Story?

Harald’s reveal will tell us more about the true incidents that went down in Elbaf and possibly explore the World Government’s hand in those matters. Furthermore, Harald’s betrayal and working with the World Government also mean that Elbaf was an intentional target, not incidental as portrayed.

At one point, the spoilers also reveal that Shanks was in Elbaf and was trying to stop Harald from becoming a “Knight of God”. The “Knight of God” concept’s revelation suggests that Imu’s influence is expanding openly, not just in secret.

With the new reveal by King Harald, the story might be more focused on Loki’s character exploration going forward as a good guy rather than the cursed prince. If the spoiler information stands true, Loki is no longer a murderer but an executioner who acted on Harald’s wishes. With the course of changes, Loki could well and truly become the new unsung protector of Elbaf or a massive force standing against the World Government.

Oda revealing a legendary Devil Fruit this late into the series can well and truly mean it’s going to be mythological or very special. The Devil Fruit can even be a parallel to Luffy’s Nika fruit, something that was lost with time or misnamed, but was always there. While the new reveal might not end up making Loki a Straw Hat ally, it can definitely make him a separate entity against the World Government and Imu’s forces.
